Austria: Salzburg - Schwarzach St. Veit - Spittal an der Drau - Villach - Klagenfurt
The Tauern lift. From Salzburg, the train travels through the Gastein Valley to the Tauern Tunnel, a climb of more than 600 meters through narrow valleys, through tunnels and over viaducts. After the 8 km long tunnel, the line descends until it reaches Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia, on the banks of the Wörther See.
