Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson (1980)
The first part of the Soviet series of television films based on the stories of Arthur Conan Doyle about Sherlock Holmes, filmed in 1979. The film consists of two parts and was filmed based on the story "The Speckled Band" (1st part "The Acquaintance") and the novella "A Study in Scarlet" (beginning of the 1st part and the 2nd part "Bloody Inscription").

Episode 2 - Bloody Inscription
Release Date: 1980-03-22Holmes receives a message from Inspector Gregson about a strange case in an abandoned house on Brixton Road: the body of an elderly American was found there, and the word "Revenge" was written in blood on the wall. The case is led by Inspector Lestrade, who does not perceive Holmes as a detective. Some time later, another American, Joseph Stangerson, who was suspected of the first murder, is killed with a knife in a hotel; the word "Revenge" is also found written in blood on the wall at the crime scene.
